From a humble beginning of organised schools football as early as the 1890s supported further by her late Majesty Queen Victoria in 1895. the official formation in 1904 of the English
Schools Football Association (ESFA) to date, the Association is a founding member of the School International Board which now has 26 member countries. There are currently 26,000 schools worldwide utilising ESFA’s training methods and football teaching skills as an important part of their football education programmes to cultivate under-18 football athletics.
During the past over one-hundred years, the ESFA has cultivated a great number of world famous football players, such as Stanley Matthews, Duncan Edwards, Bobby Charlton, Terry Venables, Martin Peters, Trevor Brooking, Peter Shilton, Kenny Sansom, Ray Wilkins, Auld Enemies, Stephen Clemence, Andrew Fotiadis, Mark Gower, Stephen Hughes, Jody Morris, Ryan Giggs, Danny Murphy, Jamie Redknapp, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville, John Curtis, David Johnson, Joe Cole, Chris O’Brien, Michael Bingham, Michael Owen.
Sino-UK School Football Project is the first management project of Dr. Sun Yi Xian’s Youth Foundation, the sole partner of the English Schools Football Association (EFSA), whose permanent nominal chairman is Prince Philip (patron HRH Duke of Edinburgh, KG) and the chief executive officer is Mr John Read.
Despite eight years of unremitting effort, Sino-UK School Football Project didn’t achieve a massive success as expected for the immaturity of Chinese football industry and an unopened Chinese sport market then. However, after the successful 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Chinese Government is determined to carry out a thorough reform of the sports sectors in China with an emphasis on the football industry. We are now in the middle of a special period between the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2012 London Olympic Games. With the government supports of both countries, it is believed that the time is ripe to strengthen the bilateral exchange and co-operation in the sporting field especially the youth sports market between UK and China and promote Sino-UK School Football Project's contribution to China's football industry reform.
The English Schools Football Association (ESFA) and Dr. Sun Yi Xian’s Youth Foundation have appointed Global Assets Organisation, which has an excellent management team and a group of world-class experts with extensive network of contacts in financial, cultural and sports sectors, to assist and co-ordinate in the introduction and promotion of the new ideas of English Football education as well as training courses for both trainers and trainees in Asia.
