The Sino-UK Football Education and Culture Seminar and the English Football Teaching Programme were opened at Tongji University
Co-sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Football Association, Tongji University, Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation (UK), International Football College of Tongji University and Shanghai Campus Football League hosted the Sino-UK Football Education and Culture Seminar and English School Football Teaching Programme Training Course held on 15 July at Tongji University, which enjoys the reputation of "100 Years of Football".
This is the second phase of the Implementation Plan of the Sino-UK School Football Project initiated and implemented by the Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation (UK), the first seminar on football education held by the project (15-16 July) and the seventh training course for football teachers in England (17-23 July). Previously, Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation (UK) in 2013-2018, with Zhongshan City Education and Sports Bureau, Tongji University and Shanghai Campus Football League jointly organized 6 English campus football teacher teaching courses (2 in Zhongshan City, 4 in Tongji University), for Shanghai and Zhongshan City and more than 10 provinces and cities across the country successfully trained nearly 450 school football teachers. The advanced, systematic and social achievements of the training course model have been well received by the Department of Physical Education and Arts of the Ministry of Education and the education and sports departments of the provinces and municipalities, as well as the relevant social and mainstream media. Dr Wang Dengfeng, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Arts of the Ministry of Education, spoke highly of the work of the training course. He said England's school football lecturers had "brought the world's most advanced football concepts and techniques" to the course.
Nearly 100 football education experts, scholars and football professionals from some of the country's general institutions of higher learning, provincial and municipal education and sports departments, the Football Association and some districts and counties of the Shanghai Campus Football League participated in the seminar. The nine English football teaching specialists who attended the seminar and will be coaching the seventh course all have FA or UEFA A and B-level qualifications and are senior lecturers in school football teaching for many years.
Among them, Mr. John Read was the executive member of the British Sports Management Committee and the CEO of the English School Football Association. He is now the Minister of Sports Education of the Sun Yat-sen Youth Foundation; Mr. James Houchen was the Minister of the Teaching Department of the FA Head of Football Education and Culture; Mr. Mark Armtiage has taught football for many years at Ruskin University in Anglia, UK, and is currently a major member of the Sino-UK School Football Project's teaching team. At the seminar, they gave keynote speeches on "School Football Teacher Training and Application of Teaching Materials", "Core Contents of Football Education in British Universities", "Sports Science in Football" and other topics, and discussed with Chinese personnel .
The long-term implementation of the Sino-UK School Football Project is to build a world-class football discipline teaching system, talent training system and international cooperation and exchange system, and ultimately promote the construction of "Sino-UK football (Asia) Tongji Education Park". It is particularly pleasing that this seminar and training course also welcomed three football teachers from the Chinese Taipei Campus Education Association from Taiwan, the motherland's treasure island. Their arrival was warmly welcomed by all the participants.
Professor Lei Xingxuan, Chairman of the Football Branch of the China University Sports Association and Vice President of Tongji University, delivered a welcoming speech, while Mr. Nelson Cheng, Chairman of the Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation, Ms. Chen Hua, Director of the Sports and Health Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Mr Zhu Guanghu, Chairman of the Shanghai Football Association, Mr. John Read, Minister of Education of the Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation, and Mr. Jamie Houchen, Director of the Coaching and Teaching Department of the Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation, delivered speeches. The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Professor Yu Songhui, Secretary General of the Football Branch of the China University Sports Association and Dean of the International Football College of Tongji University.
The two-day seminar on the strategy of education and culture in Chinese and English football. Mr. Victor Man, Secretary-General of Dr Sun Yi Xian's Youth Foundation, Ms. Guan Wei, Director of the International Branch of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Professor Wang Zhibin, Member of the National Youth Campus Football Expert Committee, Dean of the School of Physical Education of East China Jiao university, Professor Dong Congming, Director of the Football Teaching and Research Office of Shanghai Sports College, Mr. Zhu Jinxin, former Head of the National Youth Football Team, and leaders and guests from some general institutions of higher learning, some provincial and municipal education and sports departments, and representatives of some districts and counties of the Shanghai Campus Football League attended the meeting.
The seventh english school football teacher teaching course lasted 7 days and involved 82 participants in three classes. Of these, 24 participated in the intermediate course, and they were selected by the English Football Teaching Expert Group, which taught, from among the participants in the sixth course. The remaining 58 participated in the initial training course in two classes.
